Frequently Asked Questions
How much fresh meat is in a serving?
Typically we suggest a third of a pound per individual adult. Children's portions are less and a hungry adult/teenager's might be more.
How long is my fresh meat good for in the fridge?
If you bring home meat in a vacuum sealed bag, that meat will be fine in your fridge for about a week. After that, you'll want to transfer it to the freezer where it will be perfectly happy for up to six months.
For Beef, Pork or Lamb cuts wrapped in butcher paper: these should be fine, uncooked, in the fridge for about three-five days depending on how cold your fridge is. After that, if you can't get around to making it, give it a nice tight wrap in some plastic wrap and pop it into the freezer where it will keep nicely for about 3 months. Depending on how well you wrapped the meat, you might see a bit of freezer burn develop over time, so definitely thaw and cook your meat if you see that begin to happen.
For poultry, we suggest that it be cooked sooner rather than later— raw poultry will keep in the fridge for about 3 days, max. If your poultry is in a vacuum sealed bag, it will keep for about 5 days. Anything after that, we suggest putting it in your freezer until you are ready to defrost, cook and eat within a day or so.
Are your sausages gluten-free?
Yes. Our standard selection of housemade sausages are gluten-free. Confirm with your butcher about the ingredients in our rotating selection of specialty sausages though, as these ingredients vary.
I’m traveling, will you give me some ice to keep my meat warm?
Sorry, but at this time we don’t have ice to offer. Please make sure to bring some ice packs from home.
